Intro

Travelling is one of the best parts of life — but if you’re into your fitness, it can also be stressful.

As a vegan personal trainer, one thing that always crosses my mind before a trip is:

👉 “Am I going to lose strength or muscle while I’m away?”

I recently went on a snowboarding trip to Canada, and I knew that finding high-protein vegan food could be hit or miss.

So instead of overthinking it, I kept things simple.

The Problem with Vegan Travel

When you’re travelling, especially abroad:

  • Vegan options aren’t always easy to find
  • Protein intake often drops
  • Meal timings become inconsistent
  • You’re more active than usual (e.g. walking, snowboarding, exploring)

All of this can make it harder to stay on track.

My Simple Solution

Instead of relying on luck, I made sure I had a backup plan.

👉1. I Packed Protein for Every Day

Before I left, I prepared:

  • Protein powder
  • Creatine
  • Enough servings for each day of the trip

I mixed my protein and creatine together in advance and stored them in small containers.

This meant:
✔ no stress at airport security
✔ no measuring while travelling
✔ always having a quick, reliable option

👉2. I Brought High-Protein Snacks

I also packed vegan protein bars.

These were perfect for:

  • busy days on the slopes
  • long travel days
  • times when food options were limited

Why This Works

The goal when travelling isn’t perfection.

It’s consistency.

By having a simple protein strategy:

👉I didn’t have to stress about food

👉I could enjoy the trip fully
👉 I stayed on track with my fitness

After a full day of snowboarding, I could:

✔ refuel properly
✔ support muscle recovery
✔ maintain my strength

The Key Takeaway

If you’re vegan and travelling:

👉 Don’t rely on finding perfect meals everywhere
👉 Have a simple backup plan

It doesn’t need to be complicated.

A bit of preparation goes a long way.
